You’re the one for me !

When I met you, I knew you were the one for me !

I looked into your eyes,

I could see our lifetime together !

Longtime romancing,

Kids together ! Outings together !

Growing together !

Oh how wonderful it was !

But then little did I know,

That reality was different !

For though it did happen,

You hated outings,

You hated kids,

You hated adventures,

And you killed me !

I drifted on,

Then I met you !

I knew you were the one

Who could put out the fire !

As I looked into the smouldering passion in your eyes,

Little did I realise

Alas ! That the fire would die completely!

Then I met you

And hoped you would be the one !

Young and athletic,

Smiling and charismatic,

I was bowled over !

Huh ! I was bowled over,

Not you !

You laughed at me

Your charisma mocking me

And it was not to be !

I had to drag myself on !

Then there you were,

The one for me !

Older, wiser,

You knew the ropes !

I thought to myself « At last ».

Little did I know that you had other plans !

You saw my friend,

And I read the message in your eyes

« Get lost ».

You sure knew the ropes.

Was there no hope for me ?

But wait,

Who do I see,

There in that corner !

Wow ! I knew I’d found the right one

This time !

You became mine

And then the truth came.

You belonged to many others too !

I moved on !

And then I met you,

Young and untarnished,

Innocent and sweet,

Immature and unwise,

I moved on.

Then I met you !

Perhaps you were the one, finally !

No, it was not to be !

For, you wanted a teacher !

And so the search goes on !

Youth fades away,

A lifetime being etched out

In the meantime….

Hope never fades…
