The Play
I see myself
Being born
My first smile
My first broken tooth
Which I buried in the backyard
Hoping it would grow back
To my wonder and joy
It did !
The happiness continued…
Winning a game
Parading for the school,
And the country.
Standing first, accomplishing lots !
Saving for and buying
All those trendy things
Worrying about my first date
Learning along the way !
I walked, swam, jumped
Left behind my jeunesse
Adulthood wasn’t easy
Kids grew up
Left the nest
I staggered
My sight grew dim
My ears heard feebly
Then he came into my life
I held the tiny form in my arms…
And lo behold !
My eyes suddenly took in the little dimple,
Two, black trusting eyes and
The carefree gurgling grin
I could hear him loud and clear !!!
I wasn’t dying
I could see myself reborn
As my joy soared
Lifting me sky high
I bid adieu to the world !
